A long-distance relationship
Julien and Jenny were based overseas when they decided to knock down their existing home in Ainslie and build a new one. When it came to selecting a builder who could start the process with them virtually, Classics was the
clear winner.

“We looked at a few architects and builders,” recalls Julien. “But Classics was the only one that took the time to explain the steps involved and were really transparent about the process and the costs. So, we chose them.”
The result is a beautiful Hamptons-style home that features a large pool and outdoor entertaining area, parent’s retreat, two living spaces, a guest quarters and, important to the couple, a relatively small footprint.
The family of four, in particular Jenny, had a very clear idea about what they wanted in their forever home.
“Classics said to us ‘Why don’t you put together a power point presentation?’ So we did, and in the end we had 24 different slides with photos of everything we wanted,” explains Julien.
What sold them the most on the process, was the seamless collaboration between architect, builder and client, which, in Julien’s opinion, offered them not only the best value for money, but in the end, the best outcome.
“Being able to work with both the architect and the builder was a huge advantage,” says Julien. “Because Classics would come back to us and say, ‘this doesn’t fit in your budget, but you could do this differently.’”
“So in the end, we were able to get everything on our wishlist, and work within our budget. And six months into living here, we really feel that this home is perfect for us.”
Most importantly for Jenny and Julien who have lived and worked through the world, their new home is able to accommodate furniture and artwork that they have collected along the way.
“For a long time, it was all in storage,” says Julien. “So it’s really nice to be able to find a home for them finally. This home really represents us, and it works really well together.”
