Rural Retreat

Seasoned home builders, Leah and Ty, had found a beautiful rural block of land on which to build their forever home. They had the perfect idea of what their dream home should look like, but just didn’t know where to start, when it came to realising their vision.

“A friend said to us, if you’re going to build a house, you should go with Classic’s,” explains Leah. “We’d never built with them before, but when we went in to meet them, it was their people and their process that won us over.”

Both Leah and Ty work from home, so a private and secure home office was top of their list. They also wanted a separate wing for their kids—now young adults studying—so that they could come and go as they please, with a central place for them to all come together.

They were thrilled that their Classic’s architect was able to bring to life what they had in their minds, and were delighted with his ideas for the central living place—which they lovingly refer to as the Great Room.

“We wanted the ceilings to be really high, but when Jefferson showed us the designs, it was not quite right,” said Leah. “At the next meeting, he showed us some plans that featured a mezzanine level above the Grand Room that featured a library, with a feature spiral staircase—and we went ‘wow—that’s gorgeous’.”

“He also suggested that we feature the two massive wooden beams in the entryway to the great room, which we would also never have thought of. So even though we had a clear vision in our heads of what we wanted, he offered suggestions that we would never have thought of that made it even better.”

Perched on the top of a rise overlooking spectacular rural landscapes, the home features 6 bedrooms, a huge office/study, 5 bathrooms, and 2 car garage, 3 living spaces and a huge outdoor entertainment area and pool overlooking the rolling fields and hill ranges.

Featuring a mix of materials including natural bluestone cladding, feature masonry brickwork, recycled spotted blue gum timber and colourbond cladding, expert craftsmanship has been employed to create a contemporary but timeless home that provides everything that the occupants could possibly want.

“I can't say what my favourite part is,” says Leah when asked. “Because I love it all. It’s exactly how we wanted it: the design, the heating and cooling, the views—we love everything.”

Having built several homes previously, Lean and Ty say they would have no hesitation in recommending Classics’ to friends and family.

“It was so much easier than builds we've done before,” says Leah. “Everyone was lovely and friendly and kept us updated. I think it's probably important to say that we built during the challenging time of Covid, and with timber shortages as a result of the bushfires as well. But despite all that, the process was incredibly smooth and we have friends that started building six months before us. We've been in this house for more than six months and they're still not in their home, so we made the right choice.”
